What is the Rubber Duck?
The Rubber Duck is classified as a Common Trinket in Arc Raiders. Trinkets are small items that you can collect and use to customize your Raider Den, or sometimes deploy strategically during missions. The Rubber Duck specifically has two main functions:
  • Decoration: You can place it in your Raider Den to personalize your space.
  • Distraction Tool: You can throw it in Topside missions to create noise, which can divert enemy attention for a short time.

It weighs 0.3 units, stacks up to 15, and can be sold for 1,000 coins if needed. While its in-game utility is limited compared to weapons or equipment, it’s surprisingly handy in certain tactical situations.

How Do I Get Rubber Ducks?
The main way to collect Rubber Ducks is through scavenging. You can find them in loot stashes scattered across Topside or within mission rewards. Keep in mind:
  • Not all containers will drop Rubber Ducks. Some locations, especially on Stella Montis, may no longer give them if you’re using certain skills.
  • If you’re focused on decorating your Raider Den, plan ahead. Collecting a large number may require repeated scavenging runs.

How Do I Use Rubber Ducks Effectively?
Many players overlook how useful the Rubber Duck can be during missions. Here’s how it works in practice:
1. Raider Den Decoration
In your Raider Den, the Rubber Duck is purely aesthetic. Most players like to “duck out” their dens by placing multiple Rubber Ducks in visible spots. While this doesn’t impact gameplay stats, it can make your den feel more personalized. Players often pair the Rubber Duck with other common trinkets for a playful theme.
2. Creating Distractions in Topside
When thrown during a Topside run, the Rubber Duck makes noise. This can:
  • Draw nearby enemies away from objectives.
  • Create a temporary diversion, giving your team a few seconds to reposition.
  • Serve as a low-risk way to scout enemy movement.

In practice, this works best when you throw the duck just out of sight of enemies. Experienced players often throw it behind corners or near chokepoints to make enemies investigate while the team completes an objective.
Tip: Don’t rely solely on the Rubber Duck to distract strong enemies. Its effect is brief and can be ignored by advanced AI, but for small mobs or as a timing tool, it works well.

Are There Any Limitations?
Yes, there are a few:
  • You can only carry a limited number at a time (stack of 15). Don’t overload your inventory if you need space for other items.
  • Not every skill or perk interacts with Rubber Ducks. For example, some breachable containers used to drop ducks when using the A Little Extra skill, but this was patched in Update 1.7.0.
  • The noise generated is noticeable but not powerful. It’s a distraction, not a weapon.

Understanding these limits helps you avoid wasting them in combat situations.

How Has the Rubber Duck Changed Over Time?
The Rubber Duck has seen minor updates, mainly to fix placement and interaction issues:
  • Update 1.3.0: Introduced more decorative options for the Raider Den. Players were able to fully “duck out” their den.
  • Update 1.7.0: Fixed issues with placing Rubber Ducks on Augments and adjusted loot drops for certain containers.

These updates show that the Rubber Duck is mostly cosmetic but has small tactical uses.

Can I Buy Rubber Ducks Directly?
Rubber Ducks themselves are not sold directly, but some players aim to buy Wolfpack blueprint to improve their scavenging efficiency. With better blueprints, you can optimize your runs and increase the chance of collecting rare or common trinkets, including Rubber Ducks.

Practical Advice From Experience
From playing extensively, here’s what actually works with Rubber Ducks:
  • Topside Diversion: Always use them in combination with movement and cover. They’re more effective if your enemies are grouped.
  • Inventory Management: Keep a small stack ready for distractions. Don’t fill your inventory unless you’re collecting for decoration.
  • Decoration: If you enjoy personalizing your den, placing Rubber Ducks in visible spots can create a recognizable theme for other players visiting your den.

The Rubber Duck isn’t a game-changer, but when used strategically, it adds both functional and aesthetic value.

The Rubber Duck in Arc Raiders is a versatile little trinket. While mostly cosmetic in the Raider Den, it provides a small tactical edge when used to distract enemies during missions. Collecting them requires scavenging, and their utility depends on smart placement and timing. Updates have fixed minor bugs and adjusted loot interactions, so always stay current with patches to make the most of them.
In short, the Rubber Duck is one of those items that rewards careful players who understand timing, positioning, and inventory management. It’s not essential, but for those who like subtle advantages or a well-decorated den, it’s worth the effort.
