Team Canada escaped an upset bid from Czechia to advance to the Olympic semifinals in men's hockey. The Canadians didn't escape unscathed, though. Sidney Crosby left the game early in the second period with a lower-body injury and didn't return. His status for Friday's semifinal against Finland is still to be determined. And in the meantime, Canada's Connor Bedard decision looms large Vincent Lecavalier Jersey . MORE: Is Connor Bedard at the Olympics? Unfortunately for Canada, one of their most talented young centers isn't at the Olympics. Bedard wasn't chosen for the team. They can't bring aboard a new player now. Canada does have other center options, so if Crosby can't play, they can still put four quality lines together. Some wanted Bedard in Milan already, though, and now it feels like an even bigger mi s for those same Bedard supporters. MORE: Bedard was pa sed up in favor of some more veteran experience. One of the last guys to make the team was Nick Suzuki, and he scored the game-tying goal in the quarterfinal late in the third period, so it's not cut and dry that Canada would be better off with Bedard right now. This season in the NHL, Bedard has played 44 games and has 23 goals with 30 a sists for the Blackhawks. All he can do right now is wait for the Olympic break to end so he can get back into game action. More Olympics news: Denis Savard Jersey |
